American Idol

Yay! It only took me all day to figure out how to add a post! Here it is nearly 11:00 at night and I'm finally figuring it out.

Don and I went to the American Idol concert two nights ago here in Utah. We were excited! The last one we went to was Season 2, so that was like 5 years ago. I braved driving on the freeway halfway to Salt Lake to pick up Don at Trax, and then he drove the rest of the way to the E center. After spending $10.00 on parking and $20.00 on dinner, (and over $100 for the tickets) we were in our seats ready for the concert.

The first half consisted of each of the top 10, starting with #10, coming out and singing three songs. Michael Johns was the best by far! He was awesome! He sang "We Will Rock You" and "Dream On" and another song that I don't remember. He was sooo good!

The top 3 didn't even make an appearance until after intermission. Syesha sang first, and she was wearing a skirt so short that you could see up it from the camera angles. AND her shirt was very low cut. Hmmm, wasn't this a family show?

About three rows above us were three teenage girls, wearing matching long red t-shirts proclaiming their love for the Davids in gold letters. They screamed a lot and I kept looking back at them in annoyance. One of them would tell the others to quiet down and they sort of did. But when the second act started they got louder and louder. Finally I turned around and asked them to please be quiet. They responded by laughing at me and getting louder and shriller....when David Archuletta came on they drowned him out! And they continued that way with David Cook. It was sooo aggravating...I intended to grab them on the way out and tell them how they ruined the second act for me, but of course they got out before us. Don said he was considering buying some huge sodas and "accidentally" dumping them on the girls! I wish he had, but he probably would have been arrested! There was not a security person in sight so all we could do was endure their noise. I don't know if we'll go back to a concert at the E center in the future.

But I must say, the Davids and Michael Johns and Carly were amazing! David Cook sang "Billie Jean" and Don almost died...it was his favorite offering during the whole American Idol season this year!

I'm sure those girls thought that we were just old grandparents and why on earth were we there, anyway? I wish I could figure out who they were and send a letter to their parents!

I'm sorry those girls made the concert a little miserable for you. I know how excited you were to go. I almost forgot you had told me you were going. I hope you were able to enjoy it anyway. Where did you go for dinner? I hope at least you enjoyed that--and a big "WAY TO GO GIRL" for driving on the freeway.

Adding pictures is easy. While you are writing your post, notice the row of formatting options along the top edge of where you are typing your entry. Way over to the far right are three icons. Coming from the right, they look like an eraser, a strip of film, and a tiny blue picture of the mountains. If you hover your mouse over the third (blue) one, you'll notice it says "Add picture". Click on it, then click on the "browse" button to click on your photo, click "upload image", then follow the instruction to click "Done". Presto. The only drawback is that the pictures are always added at the TOP of your post. You then go back and drag and drop them wherever you want in your text. I find it easier to add photos first, then go back and add the text to fit around the photos. Just my $0.02 worth.

My June archive has some nice pics and you're welcome to browse around: http://kd9la.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
