School Days

This week was the first week of school for me. It was a busy and stressful week. I came home exhausted each day....I am getting really old!

It's always sad at the beginning of the year to remove my old students' names from files and things. It's a time of reflection, remembering how things went last year. I had great kids last year so it was especially hard this time. But as soon as the new kids come in the door those thoughts fly away and my mind is occupied with the new students. I have four classes, and one is pretty difficult. There's 9 boys and 3 girls, and of the 9 boys, probably 6 are problematic. They were soooo hard the first day, but today they were a little better. I'm hopeful that I can get them into shape so I won't dread their classes. Wish me luck!

It's always so strange starting school so early here in Utah. I have always returned to school after Labor Day except for the last 4 years. I don't know if I'll ever get used to going back to school in August, but that's the way it goes!

Tonight Don and I were outside, watering the one little pot of flowers on the porch, when one of my students from two years ago went riding by on his bike with his dad. They stopped to talk and it was just so sweet. Logan struggled all through the year with me and now he's in 1st grade, and his dad said he's finally catching on with reading. Logan told me he's 6 but wants to be 20! Cute little kid! I'm grateful that I now live in a neighborhood where I can see a few of my students once in awhile. It helps ease the pain of saying goodbye each May.

I love teaching and am glad I've gotten to do it for 18 years now!

Awwww, us moms sure appreciate all the hard work that you put into helping our kids to be their best! I hope your classes settle in soon!

I guess that's the result of loving others--missing them when they're gone. That's probably especially true with children. It also shows what a good teacher you are. Lucky little children to have you. Hope this next week goes well for you. Love you.

I would love to teach little ones as well. How fulfilling to be around their precious spirits every day.

It's rewarding when they come back after they're on their own, and thank you for helping them along their way. In my business, we then get to ask them for money!
