Christmas this year was really fun! We had planned to spend Christmas Eve with Jesse, Karina and Lilly, but since a big snowstorm was coming in, they decided to spend Christmas Eve with some of Karina's family and come to our house later. So Don and I went to the movies and saw Twilight again. That was great. Then later, Jesse and family arrived. We watched tv together and ate some snacks, and then Lilly went to bed. She slept on the pull out couch in Don's office and finally went to sleep around 12:30 a.m. Then Jesse and Karina had to put her toys together and we stayed up with them until afte 2:30 a.m. We were sooo tired! We aren't used to that any more!
The next morning we awoke to the snowstorm. I loved that. Lilly got up around 8:30 a.m. and we all went downstairs and got ready for her to see her gifts. Jesse brought her downstairs. She had so much fun with her new toys! She got a little kitchen with a "micromave", a stroller and other accessories for her dolls, and lots of other things. Gramma and Granpa gave her a Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, a "pink castle" and a new outfit. Aunt Christie and Uncle Travis gave her a "pink airplane". It was great sharing the morning with Jesse and Karina and Lilly, and they even made breakfast for us! As the day went on the snow continued. I think we eventually got maybe 10" of snow. Don and Jesse shoveled and later in the day the snowplow actually came around. I was impressed that they did that on Christmas. For dinner we didn't do our usual traditional meal of baked Cornish Game Hens..instead, Jesse and Don shoveled out the back patio and Jesse grilled the hens on the charcoal grill. It was good, too! Maybe we started a new tradition! The only sad thing was that Christie and Travis couldn't be here with us, but they had fun at Kathryn and Robert's house (Travis' parents in Maricopa, Arizona). This was the first time Christie has not been with us for Christmas in her entire life, and I'm sure it was sad for her as it was for us, but we all made the best of it. She's lucky she has such a great new family to love.
Don and I spent a peaceful and quiet New Year's Eve watching the ball drop in New York City. It always bugs me here that we are watching it drop on a time delay. For so many years we got to watch it live when we lived in NJ. We had a hard time watching Dick Clark this year. He is not looking (or sounding) good these days.
Now it's 2009.....hard to believe. I should set some resolutions but I never do because then I feel like I have to keep them. Besides, it seems like I'm always struggling with the same things so my resolutions would be the same each year....weight, spirituality, exercise. The usual things.
Happy New Year to all our friends and loved ones. I hope 2009 is a great year for us all...and that we can recover some of our lost retirement funds that were in the stock market!

Even though the snow was a pain, it was beautiful and really felt like Christmas, didn't it. We loved coming to your beautiful house the Saturday after Christmas. We always have so much fun together. Hopefully the funds will come back and 2009 will be a good year.
Hi Pat, I am here in Utah, delivering Michelle and Clarks wedding gifts, and a bed we gave them. Hoping the snow doesn't last too long, cuz i need to get home.
