Thanks to my darling daughter-in-law, Karina, I now have some new art to decorate my comments! I hope I can do it myself when Valentine's Day is over. You wouldn't want to see hearts all year, would you?
On Fast Sunday in January our ward boundaries were changed. Don and I (and our street) were put into the Jordan Willows 4th Ward. We weren't surprised but were sad at leaving our old ward. However, we were very warmly welcomed into JW 4th and very impressed with the ward! It's quiet, reverent, friendly, loving, and everything we could hope for. I'm glad for the change but still miss some of our friends in the old ward.
I lived in fear of getting a new calling, specifically because I was afraid we'd be called back to our old calling which was Young Single Adult Advisors. In our old ward the Bishop had told us he wanted us to attend the singles' ward and we felt like he was saying that there was no need for us to attend his ward, so bye-bye Bahrs! Anyway, we got called into the new Bishop's office and after chatting for a few minutes he called us back to the old calling, just as I had feared. I told him it would be fine as long as he didn't expect us to attend the singles' ward because I was extremely happy in his ward and really wanted to be a part of it. He acted surprised and said of course he didn't want us to go to the singles' ward, just to keep track of the Young Single Adults. So now we have a new, old calling and get to keep going to our ward! Yay!
Now for the procedure part.....unfortunately my gyn insisted I have a colonoscopy as I am 9 years overdue for one. I have been successful up until now at avoiding one but this time I really had no choice, so I made the dreaded appointment for Jan. 30th and started sweating it out. Don and I had gone on a high fiber diet and as part of prep for the procedure I couldn't eat high fiber foods for about 5 days, which did not make me happy, and that's all I craved during that time. Then the day before the procedure I couldn't eat anything solid, only clear liquids like water, jello, broth, etc. That night I had to start drinking the solution that cleans out your system. The solution didn't taste that bad but it was sort of slimy and very salty. You have to drink 12 ounces every ten minutes until all four gallons are gone! So I set the timer and started drinking. I did ok for two hours but then it made me terribly sick. I mean, it was disgusting. But I persisted and got through it, only to have to start drinking the 12 more glasses of water that they required! So by the time I got through two glasses of water I had to brush my teeth and got sick again. It was just terrible, worse than I had expected. At that point I gave up on drinking more. The next morning I had to be at the hospital at 6:45, and they were so nice there. I was cold and they even gave me two heat blankets! The actual procedure was nothing...I don't remember anything beyond having the meds (a narcotic pain killer and a sedative called Fontynl) inserted into my I.V. By 8:45 I was on my way home and it was done. The test went great and I don't have to have another for 10 years! So yay for colonscopies, and nay for the prep! And thanks to the great doctor and nurse and tech...they were wonderful. Heh heh...I don't think I ever saw the doctor's face and he never saw mine, either! I think that was on purpose!
Also, thanks to my great husband for his unending support as I made my way through being scared spitless because I had to have that procedure. I don't think he's ever really seen me throw up before but this time he did...that did sort of gross him out.

I lost a friend to colon cancer, so it was smart although obnoxious. I did it - my solution tasted worse but I drank less. It was ghastly.
I had to do a similar prep when I had to go in to be checked for kidney cancer. It was awful. I don't understand why science can be so advanced in some areas and then lag behind so much in other areas. I mean really, can't there be a less painful, less disgusting way to test for things?! Honestly! So glad you got it over with!
I agree, Jen! Isn't there a way you could get cleansed by taking a pill with lots of water or something? I'm glad it's over with, but that was gastly, as Dubby said, beyond words!
I'm glad it's over with and that everything went well. (well, at least the results) I hope you're feeling better. You new ward sounds perfect for you.
That Don is a gem! He's a KEEPER!
Oh, and thanks for the cute comments on Robyn's blog.
