Eye Surgery (well, sort of)

Some of you may know that I have glaucoma. My Dad and Grandfather both had it too, and my Grandfather went blind from it. My father had treatment later in his life and lost some of his vision too. So far I haven't lost any vision, but I've been going to eye doctors all my life and they've kept a good "eye" on it. Sorry for the pun! My eye pressure continues to go up and down. On my visit last week it was 22 in both eyes, which is pretty high. So my eye doctor scheduled me for laser (surgery? treatment?) today. The object of the surgery is to zap little holes behind my eye so the fluid can drain out as it should. I was scared spitless.....I am a big baby when it comes to anything medical and in fact had my children without anesthesia because I just can't stand anything invasive. I couldn't eat this morning (didn't want to throw up my breakfast on the doctor). But it was fine, all over with in 10 minutes. He zapped 118 holes in the membranes behind my eye. It didn't hurt, only ached a little bit, and that's already gone. If it works he will do the other eye in a week or so. He has to do it quickly as the big, expensive machine is only on loan to him for a little while. I love this doctor, he is the only doctor here that I've found matches my doctors in NJ. His name is Dr. Larry Noble and he's in Provo, if anybody needs a great eye doctor!

Ew. I couldn't do it either. I am sure you are glad one is over at least. Good luck with the results and the second one.

I had no idea you were worried about glaucoma. I'm so glad it went well. Now you won't be as nervous next time.

Oh my gosh! I don't think I could handle holes being zapped into my eyes...So kudos to you!! You're stronger than I am! That's for sure!

I'm glad everything is okay though!

And...YOU are an inspiration to me!! :) :)

Thanks for everything, and I hope I can see you guys soon!!!

I'm relieved everything went ok. I don't like anything medical either. It's always scary. So glad to have your blog address now!
