FLDS or Polygamist? and an update on Don

Today I was at Wal-mart and had my first-ever sighting of what I thought was a polygamist couple, but upon further (furtive) inspection I think they were FLDS. The dad was cute, dressed normally, and the little boy and girl were so adorable, also dressed normally. But the mother was dressed in a homemade huge dress with a big collar and a big bow tied at the back of her waist. Her hair was also in the typical FLDS style...I don't know how to describe it, but you've seen it on tv on lots of FLDS women. Anyway, they were a cute family and the wife looked very adoringly at her husband and looked happy, but I noticed he wasn't wearing a wedding ring and it bugged me how he is allowed to wear regular clothing and not her. Totally double standard.

The last few days have been uneventful as far as Don's stroke is concerned. I don't remember if I wrote about him having a TEE test on his heart on Thursday, so I'll do it now. If I already updated, please forgive me for my elderly mind! They sedated him and put a tube down his throat to check on his heart (which is healthy) and for clots (of which there were none). He was left with a slightly sore throat and tiredness. On Friday he had another MRA to check the blood vessels in his neck, throat and upper chest. He had a harder time with the MRA this time. It got warm in the tube and he didn't think he could stand it, so they pulled him out, calmed him down, removed the blanket they'd put on him and wheeled him back in. He did ok the second time but was kind of shaken when he was done. After eating lunch he felt better though. He was very relieved to not have any tests today and he slept until 9:30. We got his hair cut and he looks nice! He is going to go to church tomorrow but probably only for Sacrament Meeting. Jesse, Karina and Lilly are going to meet us for church so that will be fun.

There hasn't been much change in his vision. Sometimes it seems a little better, sometimes a little worse. We are holding onto the promises given him in his blessing last week. This morning he had a headache and that worried me, but after giving him two Aleve he was ok. The doctor said to do that in the even of a headache, but if they don't take the pain away do two more in two hours, then if the pain is still there go to the ER. Yikes, I hate being in charge.

Out here, we have old order Mennonites. The men for a long time could have electricity for their work in the barns, but the women couldn't. Cooking and ironing are just fine over an open fire/stove. They can have cars, but have to paint the trim black.

We saw a cute FLDS family in Filmore when we were driving through. They were very nice and gave Katherine a lot of attention. :-) We are keeping your hubby in our prayers and have a strong testimony of priesthood blessings so that is very reassuring to hear that he was given promises to look forward to. Sending our love!
